Saiia Construction recently completed their brand new corporate facility just off of Lakeshore drive near the Oxmoor Valley in Birmingham, Alabama. Because Saiia Construction’s plans include a future expansion to a larger facility, it was important to have a flexible interior environment that could be completely relocated to a larger corporate headquarters building at a later date.
The “DIRTT” Wall Solution provided the answer to the challenge of relocatable walls for the Saiia project. “DIRTT” (Doing It Right This Time), offers agile architectural solutions built on the philosophy of combining simplicity, self-expression, and sustainability now and into the future. Sliding and hinged doors are incorporated into the wall system, further adding to the architectural feel. The only sheet rock walls in the entire building are around the bathrooms!
To accommodate the furnishings needs of the sixty employees who occupy this 20,000 square foot office space, Business Interiors, Inc. provided Knoll Dividends workstations. Knoll Dividends offers simple, versatile design and advanced data and electronic capabilities. For seating, Business Interiors, Inc. provided various products including Davis Lucid, Knoll Life, Knoll Chadwick, and Knoll RPM. Casegoods by Gunlocke were used in the private offices to provide a transitional style along with durability and quality. The large amount of layout and storage space required was accomplished by utilizing Amcase rolling files and storage cabinets, along with Mayline drafting surfaces.
